Isolation: Stay-at-Home 2020 - Summer

New Season
Continuing Story from: https://pbase.com/britestar/isolation_stayathome_2020

This Gallery is 91 days and the same number of photos long...

As all should be aware, the world is experiencing a pandemic of a novel coronavirus named COVID-19. It is currently a disease without either a vaccine or a treatment. It is also highly contagious and can be spread by people who don't even know they are carrying the virus. Think of "Typhoid Mary". Sadly, this current coronavirus outbreak has proven deadly for many. As of the first day of Summer 2020, it has killed 122,000 Americans in just 3 months: ie, during just the 2020 Spring Season alone. Those, who survive having had the virus, may be left with long term health effects that will never go away. Currently, the COVID-19 is far from being done in taking lives. How many more lives will depend on individual responsibility of each individual (of all ages & political beliefs) to NOT to spread the disease. It will also depend on how many victims the disease can find. Spread comes from human to human (and surface) transmissions. COVID is extremely contagious. Thus, social distancing (and social responsibility) saves lives.

Healthy, we've been in self isolation and staying at home ever since my husband started to tele commute on March 9th. Being self employed, I started to stay home myself a week before that. When we first started our COVID avoidance, I never imagined that the days would turn into weeks and the weeks into months and the months into Seasons. My husband is in the "high risk" age group. What effects one of us effects us both. We are in this together.

As much as I want the old "normal" of freedom back, our Stay-at-Home "social isolation" continues into another Season of the year. Stay-at-Home means not leaving home for anything other than essential activities. It is intended to limit contact with those carrying and spreading COVID-19. Social distancing (which includes Stay-at-Home isolation) helps to avoid becoming ill from coronavirus. The disease needs continuing new hosts to continue to thrive. Sadly, COVID-19 is now worsening across the US - including our state. On June 20th (the first day of Summer) Missouri officials reported the state's highest single-day increase of COVID-19 cases since the beginning of the outbreak back in March. As businesses reopen and people are getting back together, coronavirus is finding new hosts and taking more lives.
As much as many would like to believe that COVID is "over", it is not.

Despite all that is going on, we plan to survive the pandemic. Some of the photos in this gallery will be better quality photos. Others will be nothing more than quick snapshots of & from isolation. I guess the snapshots will reflect my mood of the day. The human psyche was not designed for long term isolation. Hopefully, a safe & effective vaccine can be found to allow the world to really return to normal. These are my memories for the future when life once again someday finally returns to normal. My photos and short notes are memories of history survived.
