We don't absolutely "need" it. But with our old "GE Profile" kitchen refrigerator https://pbase.com/britestar/image/174881447 becoming more & more unreliable, my husband finally gave in to my desire to have a garage freezer like my mom (until recently) has always had. This way if the old frig totally dies - before the new frig (on back order) can be delivered - we won't lose a lot of expensive meat. Plus, even after the new frig gets here, I can now have all the freezer space I've always wanted.

Until she finally moved into an apartment, my mom had a Frigidaire for as long as I can remember. And even before that. The one that I knew never failed. She said the same about its predecessor. Although the Frigidaire company is no longer owned by GM like my mom's original one, fingers crossed that our new freezer serves us just as well as the two my mom has had during her many years.

Although it just arrived a few hours ago, own new "deep freezer" is plugged in & is down to below zero already. Although it looks clean, I still want to deep clean everything before putting food into it. Meanwhile, I already like the layout and glass shelves. It will be easy to organize.

Right now, our 3-car garage is more of a workshop for hubby. Plus, a home for our cars and an equipment storage area. Thus, the plywood next to the new freezer. However, a "kitchen-like" niche will replace what is currently around the freezer area. Although this new freezer isn't in the kitchen, it is part of our 2024 kitchen "make over".

The plain, austere look isn't my personal taste, but it's what in style right now. For a garage, I can get used to it. I really like the interior. The exterior color is "Charcoal", which shouldn't show fingerprints and smudges like stainless steel. It was either that or standout white, and we definitely don't have a white garage.

These features (and it has a 4.8 star rating) convinced me that this should be "the freezer for us". I'm excited about being able to organize our frozen food better. I guess this is a sign of "old age". When I was in my early 20's, I would have never been excited about a freezer and being able to better store and organize groceries. 😉
