Neues Schloß Herrenchiemsee

Herrenchiemsee Palace, located on the island of the same name, is the world's only replica of the Palace of Versailles (Paris, France).
The New Herrenchiemsee Palace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since summer 2025 in the Bavarian municipality of Chiemsee in the Rosenheim district.
The three-winged complex was built between 1878 and 1886 by Georg Dollmann for King Ludwig II of Bavaria in the Neo-Baroque style.

Herrenchiemsee Palace was Ludwig II's last major construction project; he only lived there for a few days.
After his first visit to the island in 1875, Ludwig II returned in 1881 to celebrate the handover of the newly completed state bedroom.
From then until 1885, he spent a few days on Herrenchiemsee every autumn. The king never wanted Herrenchiemsee Palace, like his other buildings,
open to the public and wished that the palaces be destroyed after his death.
