The Payatas Dump Site

Payatas is where you'll find the largest garbage dump in Metro Manila. Sixty-thousand people live around its fringe, scavenging, sorting garbage, and selling recyclables. Although landfill sanitation and safety have been upgraded recently, the conditions under which these scavengers live remain apalling. I'm ashamed to say that the average household pet live under vastly better conditions! I'm posting these photos so you too can "meet the children" that have to live at the country's largest garbage landfill. It's my hope that some of you will be moved to charity. They truly need our help. To learn how, contact me at bobby@wong.com.ph or +63-917-896-6976. (Due to the potential for mis-use, the album containing graphic photos of the dumpsite itself have been restricted. For those interested to help, I can provide the password upon request. I work directly with the Vincentian Missionaries parish at Payatas to help raise funds for children-focused projects. For those who wish to donate or assist in any way, I will link you up directly with them. Thanks.) Update: The password has been temporarily removed to accomodate requests to view this album.
