Summer on the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal

This is a photo journal of a road trip from Arizona to Antietam Creek, Maryland covering May to August 2007.

Five weeks of that time will be spent volunteering for the National Park Service on the C & O Canal near Sharpsburg so a great many of the photos will be about the canal. The C & O, built from 1828-1850, starts at Georgetown and ends at Cumberland, MD 184.5 miles away.This is an incredibly rich area historically, especially for the Civil War.

The end of the trip will be spent in Ohio, Kentucky, and on the Natchez Trace on down through Mississippi.
