Kenya & Tanzania September 2018: A 'bucket list' adventure and a first attempt at wildlife photography.

The road, pitted with holes and dips, are less like roads than animal tracking trails. For hours your body is shaken like a martini. Your lungs fill with road dust and the fumes from huge trucks and buses in the urban areas. It's all just part of the adventure. You don't come here for a gentle drive through a Disney safari park. The most difficult part of the trip has nothing to do with conditions on the animal drives. That is the 24 hour flight time from L.A. via Amsterdam, on to Nairobi and 24 hours back again.
But the hotels and lodges are full comfort 3-4 star rated, with swimming pools, hot showers and fine Western-style buffets with omelet stations, beef, fish, lamb, pasta & wines followed by cheesecake, tiramisu and other treats. At the end of your dustiest day, a good meal and a hot soak can wash away the worst of any day.
And what you see and experience of raw, wild Africa is worth every minute of it!
