Bali has graduated from hippy heaven and surfers destination to a sleeker, more sophisticated kind of cool island, but that doesn't mean it has lost its carefree charm. If you're serious about catching waves, head to Uluwatu surf break or Canggu. For a reboot, try one of the many World-class spa retreats, set in lush jungle. For a little more Eat-Pray-Love, go north to hike active volcanoes, see the iconic rice-paddies and stay in beautifully secluded villas. For a throwback to Bali's early days, Nusa Lembongan, an island off the west coast, is all about boutique hostels and diving with manta rays.
