Cascadia (South Fork Santiam River) Bridge

This is one of the most unique covered bridges in the world. It's designated No. 37-22-(B in the World Guide to Covered Bridges maintained by the National Society for the Preservation of Covered Bridges ( http://www.coveredbridgesociety.org/wg.htm)

Unlike a traditional covered bridge that has a barn structure with two open ends, the roadway of this bridge is on what should be the roof of the covered bridge, and once was the roof of a traditional covered bridge.

The skeletal wooden Howe Truss structure seen below the roadway is the dead giveaway that this was once a traditional covered bridge.

About 50 yards from this bridge is a mineral spring where, during the early 20th century, people came from all over the world to spend the summers drinking its curative waters.
