Weddle (Ames Creek) Bridge

This bridge was traditionally called the Devaney Covered Bridge and once spanned Thomas Creek near Scio, Oregon. County commissioners renamed it. After 50 years in service, county commissioners ordered it taken down and county workers demolished and burned the remains. All that was left was its charred truss skeleton.

It was the first covered bridge funded though the Oregon Covered Bridge Program created by the Oregon State legislature which funds covered bridge maintenance and rehabilitation projects throughout the state.

With assistance from the Jordan Bridge Company, a group that spearheaded the reconstruction of the Stayton-Jordan Bridge, high school teacher Ben Dahlenburg's Building Traders Class at Sweet Home High School reconstructed the bridge out behind the school where, still today, it crosses Ames Creek.
