In the snows of winter, Beijing appears to be dressed in red and white, colors that contrast purity and passion. In this landscape, we see a city that is all dressed up with charm and vitality in this frozen, lifeless season.
I wanna send this picture as a New Year gift to my friend
Brian, I wish him a beautiful 2005! :)

Beijing is the soul of Chinese history. That history is bittersweet -- a mixture of pride and sorrow. I frame this historic building in branches that together sing a sad song in memory of this history. I wanted to make a picture that will also help me remember forever the cold, moody beauty of this sad winter afternoon.
I wanna send this picture as a New Year gift to my dear teacher
Phil, I wish him the very best for 2005! :)

A lone rider owns this endless road as the sun rises on a cold winter morning. Nothing holds him back as he follows his dreams. This image is about a ride towards freedom for both this man and his country. Somewhere down the long road of history, China, too, will try to find its freedom.

Standing before the awesome power of this turbulent sea makes me think of how small we are compared to the majesty and force of nature itself. Yet when I made this picture, I was not afraid to face this raging sea. I can't control nature, but like that distant ship on the horizon, I can learn to ride with its rage. Just like I will ride out the personal storms that life may send my way.

My eyes were drawn to the beauty of this reflection, which shows all the color of autumn. The hard stones and soft leaves are so different from each other, but yet in this picture they join to become a vision of nature at rest. And whenever I look deeply into this image, I rest, as well.
