South Stoke is one of West Sussex's more remote feeling villages. It lies in the Arun Valley north of Arundel at the end of a quiet road on the west bank of the River Arun, on the edge of Arundel Park.
South Stoke is a very small village...really just a large farm and a handful of houses. Centuries ago it was larger, with a manor and more farms. The village population decreased after 1806 when common land was enclosed to make Arundel Park, depriving the village of sheep grazing land.
