Madehurst is a small quiet village of 105 people, located four miles north-west of Arundel. The population is kept small as no new building is allowed under planning regulations. It comprises of a church and a few widespread houses and farms set in the midst of narrow tree-lined country lanes.
Slindon is charming and unspoilt village, its brick and flint houses surrounded by woods, farms and open downland. Much of the landscape and many of the houses are in the care of the National Trust. On the southern edge of the South Downs, it lies approximately seven miles north-east of Chichester and 4 miles north-west of Arundel. It is said to be the birthplace of cricket and has a cricket club still playing after more than 250 years. In the autumn people from far and wide come to see the village's famous pumpkin display.
