Ruins of Tulum....
Part of my Archives series of Mexico captured almost
20 years ago. I was able to make a few improvements
with the new editing software that is now available.
"Tulum has some of Yucatan’s best-preserved and most remarkable
Ancient Mayan ruins. They’re believed by archaeologists to have
been incredibly important to the Mayan people, who built a series
of white-stone causeways within the city (the largest of its kind)."

_DSC0867HDR_FP_V1B.jpg
Outside the exterior walls were decorated with a series of sculptures that
kept me embraced with the theme of the church.
The Sagrada Familia is a large Roman Catholic church in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.
It was designed by architect Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926).
Although not finished, the church is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In November 2010
it was consecrated (dedicated to a special purpose) and made a minor basilica by Pope
Benedict XVI. Building of the Sagrada Família began in 1882. Gaudí started working on it
in 1883.He took over the project, and changed it with his ideas on architecture and engineering.
Gaudí worked on it until he died. At the time of his death in 1926, less than a quarter of the
building was finished. The Sagrada Família's building was slow. It needed private donations It was
stopped by the Spanish Civil War—only to start again in the 1950s. Building was more than halfway
done after 2010. Some of the project's biggestproblems still remain.[9] There is an expected finish
date of 2026–100 years after Gaudí's death.

On a recent trip to London, Ontario we visited the Sifton Bog. I was
struck by mysterious feeling I had that came over me when I came
back on my own to explore the area. I hope this image portrays
my feelings...
Sifton Bog Environmentally Significant Area (ESA) is located on the south side of
Oxford Street, west of Hyde Park Road in London, Ontario. There are access points
and trail markings that help you navigate the boardwalk.
The main feature of this 41.6-hectare public site is the floating acid peat bog and
associated boreal plant life. Deciduous swamp and upland forest surround the bog
providing a sharp contrast between the northern (boreal) and southern
(Carolinian) vegetation types.

Frangipiani - Plumeria Rubra
Because Hawaii is such a tropical paradise for plants, many of the non-native
plants brought here have gone wild, and a number of them have become seriously
invasive. A few introduced plant species were brought here by the ancient Polynesians
in their canoes, while the rest, including many food plants, forage crops, forestry
trees, exotic tropical flowers, former houseplants, and accidental weeds were brought
here more recently from many different places around the World.
Thank-you again for all of your support and comments! I will
be away for one week travelling back to Ontario for family
events.

capture wedding photos...

Looking out this becomes a daily activity as Maui is known
as one of the surf capitals of the world!
"Maui is the second-largest of the Hawaiian islands and owes its formation
to past volcanic activity. The island is predominantly made up of two volcanoes,
East Maui, also known as Haleakala, and West Maui, joined by a much lower area
of land. As a result, most of the island's landforms are volcanic"

Kinsale is a historic port and fishing town in County Cork, Ireland, which also
has significant military history. Located some 25 km south of Cork City on the
coast near the Old Head of Kinsale, it sits at the mouth of the River Bandon and
has a population of 2,257.

Poets Corner
One of the best known parts of Westminster Abbey, Poets' Corner can be found
in the South Transept. It was not originally designated as the burial place of writers,
playwrights and poets; the first poet to be buried here, Geoffrey Chaucer, was laid to
rest in Westminster Abbey because he had been Clerk of Works to the palace of
Westminster, not because he had written the Canterbury Tales.

The peace of Linlithgow was shattered in 1296 when Edward I of England invaded Scotland. In 1302
the ‘Hammer of the Scots’ had a formidable defence built around the royal residence. He called it
his ‘pele’ (from Old French pel, meaning ‘stake’). Nothing of the original Linlithgow Peel survives,
but the word is now used for the attractive parkland surrounding the later palace of the Stewarts.

Power of Healing...
Spotted Lake, Osoyoos, BC - P1000892V1_Web.jpg
"We were fortunate to come upon this outstanding location during our
stay in Osoyoos!"
Praised, from times immemorial, as a healing lake, Osoyoos has become one of the most popular tourist attractions in Canada, because of its spotted look. Each circle is thought to have mythical healing powers.
Located in the Oskogan Valley, British Columbia, Osoyoos is one of the most mineral-rich bodies of water on Earth, featuring mostly sulfates of magnesium, calcium and sodium. During the summer, as the lake’s water evaporates, it leaves behind the minerals, which take the shape of pools. Each natural pool has a different color, depending on the type and concentration of the minerals, making Osoyoos a unique sight to behold.
Ever since ancient times, the Indians of the Oskogan Valley have considered the Spotted Lake a holy place that cured their every illness. Whether they were suffering from sprains, infections, skin diseases or body aches, they would get better by immersing their bodies in the lakes waters. Even during times of war, tribes would ask for truce, so warriors could come to Osoyoos Lake and heal their wounds.

Still discovering a few gems on my morning ventures. The
Fraser River shoreline is normally only accessible by boat but this morning
we discovered a new path...

Along The Fraser River
_DSC2903C_Web.jpg
This is a new spot for me since I've been going to Fort Langley. Located
across the railroad tracks which leads to a short path that follows
the shoreline of the Fraser River. Captured shortly after sunrise it was
a nice start to the beginning of the day.

Between The Lines...
Fort Langley, BC _DSC2882_V2_Web.jpg
McMillan Island is an island in the Fraser River, located north
of Fort Langley and south of Maple Ridge, and separated from the
former by Bedford Channel, known as McMillan Slough.
A dock on the north side of the island was formerly the southern-bank
terminus of the Albion Ferry. However, with the opening of the
Golden Ears Bridge, ferry service has ceased.

"Reaching out" is probably a good title for this image as
I am experimenting with new processing techniques,
and this is a textured/ tones composite blended image.
Technical info: Two composite images blended with a
textured background.

Across The River...
_DSC2985-Web7A.jpg - Technical: Lee Filter 3 stop / Blended Image
Fort Langley is a village community with a population of 3,400 and forms part
of the Township of Langley. It is the home of Fort Langley National Historic Site,
a former furtrade post of the Hudson's Bay Company. Lying on the Fraser River, Fort
Langley is at the northern edge where you can enjoy the views of Mount Baker and
Golden Ears.
This church shown is located across the river on native reserve. This image
was captured in the early morning light as the sun crested the mountain
top.

Reflections...
_DSC3009-Edit_V1_Web.jpg
Technical: 3 Stop Lee filter to even out the sky light.
Fort Langley is a quaint little village that seems to have the right
mix of scenery and store front attractions. I was scouting for a potential
landscape scene when I ran across this scene under the bridge.
It reminded me of a lighthouse tower structure which it's not,
but it still seemed to radiate a deep, reflected colour
in the water underneath the bridge.

A Journey Into The Past...

Location: Mill Pond - London, Ontario
From my archive series...
While rummaging through my images I noticed this scene from our old neighbourhood
our glorious Mill Pond which I had never posted. I revised the image using
some of my new enhancement tools.

Another capture from a recent outing I had not processed.... The light
was changing quickly as the fog dissipated. I went with monochrome
as it felt more realistic to the mood I was feeling as I viewed this scene.

A Foggy Morning...
_DSC2827_V5_web2.jpg
It's been a mild winter this year in BC so it was not unusual to wake up
to a foggy morning. This trail is located behind our home in Fraser Valley
protected from urban growth.
We are very fortunate to call this area now our new home.

Technical: Blended 2 images - Sky & foreground to increase the dynamic range.
Early morning fog... captured shortly after sunrise. The sun was
just making it's way through the tree tops as the light penetrated
deep into the forest.

Part of my "Archive Series" revisions. This shot was captured just a stones throw from Park City,
Utah where we spent one week on vacation over the Christmas holidays. Great skiing resort area
but not being a skier I resorted to taking my own side trip on a scenic excursion to satisfy my
hunger for landscape photography.
The sun was just rising as I spotted this look out across the highway. Luckily for us there was
a place to pull over. Looking back I remember enjoying my coffee at the side of the road basking
in all of nature's beauty.

one back from the shoot to compare over the seasons.

This shot was taken shortly after the mist had dissipated in the foreground. I still like the effect the light
had on the scene and the surrounding mountains.

Early Morning...
_DSC2737_Web.jpg
Specs: Two blended shot...sky and foregound.
This is one of the first shots I captured that morning before the fog completely dissipated. I
was fortunate to have my setup mostly in place. I hung around for well over an hour after
taking this shot, just appreciating the sight and scents of the cool, moist surroundings...

Another Day...
_DSC2750-3-EditV3_Web.jpg
The early morning fog was quickly dissipating. I almost walked away empty but
at the last moment I decided to seek out a new look-out. The early morning mist
made it difficult to navigate the slippery river bed...

Sprit of The Night...
DSC 8019 - Erie Pennysylvania, US
This was an image taken by chance as we were not meant to be in Erie, Pennsylvania as it was just
a stop-over due to conflicting flight arrangements. Looking back it was one of the best opportunities we
have ever experienced enroute to the BVI.

A Winter's Delight...
_DSC2689_Web.jpg
We were travelling on our way out of town enroute to the highway when we discovered this winter scene.
I just couldn't pass by before pulling over and taking this shot. I used a 3-stop Lee filter to control the light cascading over the peaks of the mountains.

_DSC2546-Edit_V4 -Web.jpg - Mill Lake
It's been a great winter so far out here in Fraser Valley area in BC. Although we've had our fair share
of rain the last few days we've been treated to this glorious clear skies and sunshine. Mill Lake is situated
in Abbotsford, BC about a half hour drive from our home. It was a cold and windy afternoon but we were
definitely enjoying the bright clear skies and final rays of the day....
Thanks,

Mill Lake, Abbotsford, B.C. -_DSC2606-4-Edit_V3_web.jpg
The last rays of light were setting on a windy, cold day over Mill Lake, B.C. This was our first visit to
this location so I hope I have given you a glimpse of the view we were experiencing just prior to sunset. It's
been a fabulous year of change for which we are very grateful. All the best for the new year ahead!

Archive Series - Taken 8 Years Ago to the Date - 29DEC2006
We've been fortunate to have travelled to quite a few locations over the past few years. This one is another of my
archive series recently resurrected. This image has never been posted and for some reason was not selected
over a few other images I had taken that day. I refined the "sky" a tad with Nik's Define - noise reduction tool

Just reviewing my "archive" shots from the PNW that was taken

the most recent techniques used. The camera noise was considerably
higher than what I am used to now so I ran it through Nik's Define
noise solution.
