The tale of our balloon flight over Melbourne. Unfortunately just before launch the 40D's shutter release started to fail. It became necessary to press and hold for an extended time to trigger it at all. Accordingly there are a lot of "spray and pray" shots in this gallery, and because I was distracted by my shutter problems I forgot to reduce the high ISO that I was using in the pre-dawn light.

When do you not want a shutter to fail on you? Short of when you're just about to get a close up of Bigfoot, I can't think of a worse time than just before a hot air balloon flight.

Just to add to it, we went onto daylight savings time on the morning of the flight and I forgot to jump the 40D's clock ahead by 1 hour. Add 1 hour for all of the 40D's times, though the last couple, taken by my Samsung Galaxy mobile, have the right time.
