Here we're starting to see our landing spot close up; the Melbourne Cricket Ground, or MCG which straddles the neighbouring suburbs of Richmond and Jolimont.
The previous shot was over Abbotsford to the north east, so we would have been drifting south west at the time.
To the bottom right is our hotel, the Hilton On The Park (long since sold as of 2021; it's the lower ranked Pullman Melbourne On the Park as of the time of writing), from which we set out. (That's the brown building.)
Above right can be seen the Rod Laver Arena, where we had the one good day of our previous trip, seeing Saltimbanco by Cirque Du Soleil. The Australian Open tennis tournament is played there, covid 19 permitting. Still, that particular issue was long into the future at the time of this shot.
