In the foreground, an Eni petrol (gas) station. This is the national oil company of Italy, and one which is quite proud of its heritage. It has one of the most comprehensive "about us" websites I've seen from any company. A few stores are to the right. Behind that, some residential accommodation.

Then nothing but terraces of vineyards all the way up to the top of the hill, when the whole thing starts again.

I can imagine living in a place like this.
