Roadtrip from South Carolina to Maryland.
Beginning of a beautiful day!Sunrise on Myrtle Beach, S.C. |
The wedding of Bernice and EdThe newlyweds on the beach after the ceremony. This wedding was so fun. My step-mother's friend for over 20 years got married right on the beach. What a special wedding for two folks in love later in life! |
Another great day!Myrtle Beach sunrise. I walked the beach every morning to take pictures of the beautiful sunrises. |
The Fall GatheringThese were some of the 50,000 cyclists in Myrtle Beach. They offered to take my picture on one to make my boys jealous! |
Sweet TatersBefore we hit the North Carolina border, we stopped to buy sweet potatoes from this young woman. She and her family grew them. They were delicious! |
Country StoreThis was a small country store, across the line in North Carolina. They had home grown vegetables and fruits, put up fruits and homemade jellies and jams. They also had home smoked sausages and hams. It was a very popular roadside stop- especially homemade cider and lemonade! |
The Real ThingOld fashioned coke machine at the Cracker Barrel. This town is also known for their Smithfield hams. |
Old timey displayMore Cracker Barrel "antiques". They make displays as if in an old-time general store. The restaurants are also decorated with real antique items and photos and serve traditional "comfort" foods. |
Aftermath of Hurricane IsabelHurricane Isabel had picked up trees like they were toothpicks. We saw a mobile home just before dusk that was tipped over and a total loss. |
The Boyette Slave SchoolThe Boyett Slave School on the Boyett Plantation. Near Weldon, North Carolina. Notice the unusual chimney and no windows. |
