Ise 伊勢

Scruffy, non-descript city (formerly known as Uji-Yamada) on the edge of Shima-hontō, unexpectedly home to Japan's most sacred Shintō shrine - Ise-jingū.

Pictures taken from separate visits in November of 2004 and March of 2008.
