The area where I live in Germany is called the Ruhrgebiet. It has it´s name from the river Ruhr. This river is the south border of the area. He is about 219 kilometers long and finally ends in the river Rhine. For a long time within the last century our area has been Germany´s main industrial zone with a lot of coal mining factories. So forrests or rural landscapes are rare around here, though a lot has been recultivated within the last decades. The valley of the Ruhr is an exception. It has numerous beautiful ways to walk along the riverside, a few fine lakes, some lovely old villages and other attractions. So I have decided to go there from time to time this year to enjoy the walks and to compile a river gallery with new shots and some old ones from former visits. |
