Did Phan Rang from Jul 66 to Jul 67. Had done Danang from Apr 65 to Dec 65. At Phan Rang did Panther Flt. Pulled convoy duty (to Cam Ran Bay) on a few occasions. Secured an off base crash site...a 100 went down somewhere on to the east of the base. Worked with TSgt Tomacelli and others at the Catholic Orphanage in the city. Also played the organ for mass on occasion. And still managed almost daily trips to the beach with buddy Mike Sowell. Un fricking believable! I'm beat just thinking about all this stuff.

I arrived Phan Rang April l966, accompanied buy about 40 other teams and my dog Hasso 158F. We were initially bunked at the old kennels in houches close to the dogs. Shortly thereafter the handlers were moved up on the hill with the rest of humanity. Assisted in building the new kennels while Hasso was being treated for Heartworms. No doubt this was an interesting time in my life. I had the pleasure of serving with some outstanding folks while there and have connected with a lot of them in the last couple of years Alexander (Al) Zion al_zion@yahoo.com

I was there in Phan Rang for thr 4 th of July in 1970 with the Army 5th/27 Field Artillery Unit. The fire works looked better than any I have ever seen. On one of the nights 3 sappers got inside the wire and I was on guard for my time plus a buddy's time who fricked out. The Airforce doghandlers brought the dogs out and located the sappers and solved that problem fast. Thanks! You guys saved some lives. Hi, My name is Tim Chadwick and I am a militaria collector. Recently I picked up an ERDL army camoflage shirt. The patch on the uniform is on camo cloth, apperars to be in country embroidered and says TSF, then a line of chain links, and below that SPS. I did a little research and it lead me to this unit. Can someone please tell me what this patch is all about, What you folks did, and any other information which might be helpful to me displaying it in my collection? I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you

Great website!!! Was at Phan Rang from June 66 to Oct 67. Worked Panther Flt as comm/plotter and ambush patrol with SSgt Millard Elliot? MSgt Pete (Peder) Brevik was flt chief.
