I was there from March 69 thru 70 and assigned to "Panther" flight on a SAT team responding to the Gulf area for a an alert by K9 at mid-night. The area was between towers Gulf 9 and 10. Several images were spotted on "starlite" scopes moving into the outside of the fence line and permission to fire on the images was given by dispatch. Two images were seen moving away from the fence line while one image stayed steadfast just outside the fence. At dusk, the order was given to the Australian military assigned to investigate the image outside the fenceline. They found an Airman attempting to come back into the base after curfew . . . he was dead. (That's how I remember the incident . . . don't know if its the same occurrence as the one you are talking about.)

I recall the incident, but not when. I came there April 15, 1971, so it was after that. It seems like I had been there a while when it happened. The guy was trafficking heroin and had a lot of cash as I recall. I remember a lot of things from my time there but can't always put them in order or reference a date. I was with Tiger Flight. Sorry I can't help more. Best wishes, Mick
