noe street is my favorite street in the triangle... as with the rest of the triangle, it's mostly residential, but there are a few small stores which cater to local needs (most notably jumpin java coffee shop)... there are also many trees which line the street (somewhat of a rarity in san francisco) and a very successful 70s or 80s traffic calming initiative which provides bulbouts for easier street crossing, as well as space for benches and plantings between duboce ave and market st... these pictures show noe st going south from duboce ave to market st
Great pix. I lived at 175 Noe from 1961 -1986 and the street renovations occured in the early 70's. The project was called "Multifacek" or somthing like that (I was 12 at the time) and the city dug up the streets and burried the heavy telephone wires. They then set out to set up those benches and planted the trees. I rememeber collecting signatures to convert the empty lot on Beaver and Noe into a park. Lots of great memories.
