Vientiane, Luang Prabang and the Plain of Jars

Land of a Million Elephants... where the traveller can savour the languid ambience of a princess’s villa by the Mekong, haggle for shimmering silks or stock up on beetles and buffalo blood... Visits in 2005, 1997 and even way, way, back in 1974, a few months before the royal government fell to the Communist Pathet Lao forces.
