During the Boun (Ho) Khao Salak festival, the Lao (and other Southeast Asian Buddhists) make offerings to the monks at the local Wat on behalf of deceased ancestors. This takes place during the tenth full moon of the lunar calendar, before Ok Phansa and around September each year.
