Savegre is south of San Jose at an altitude of about 2200 metres on the Pacific side of mountains. This is cloud forest, and not far below tree line, so it can get quite cool at night. It has many high altitude species of birds and is probably the best place in Costa Rica for seeing Respendant Quetzal.
