Savegre Mountain Lodge is at 2200 metres and is in cloud forest. It can get quite cool here at night, dropping down close to freezing. The vegetations reflects this, and a short climb above the lodge gets one into oak forests. Many other plqants, like the violets, are very similar to those found in northern United States and Canada, and lichens and fungi are often in the same genus, and in cases are the same species as those in temperate North America. Of course there are always the reminders that one is in the tropics as one can find tree ferns, bromeliads and epiphytic orchids here too.
