MysteriousIsle
by Daniel Bollag

Donostia (San Sebastián), Spain

This view reminds me somehow
of Swiss painter Arnold Böcklin's "Isle of the Dead":

Maybe that is why it looks so mysterious to me.
Does it so to you too??

Your remark made my day, Martin: I'm looking forward to receiving your invitation to watch you decorating this year's Christmas tree ;-)) And many thanks for your compliment; I'm proud my image frightens you...! -- db.

Daniel, if you ever saw me decorate a Christmas tree, you'd equate my butcher job with "eerie" ;)
I like this shot for it's dual-layered light, in fact scenes of wide open water has always given me a bit of a fright, especially when there's no land in sight at the horizon line. The "deep blue" is a mysterious, dark, dangerous place... but beautiful at the same time. Great capture!

It was just a joke of mine, Sky: I had no intention to delete the entry, but thought talking about a Christmas tree where the Challenge theme was "Eerie" meant there was something wrong... ;-)) Thanks for commenting again! -- db.

Daniel, please do not remove the photo as it suits the theme perfectly. I understood Kathy to say that the light flowing over the mountain adds additional interest to the photo. This is a very mysterious and interesting image. I can almost picture dracula living on that island. Now I've scared myself!!

I really don't know how to take your remark, Kathy: insult or injury?? ;-)) If it looks more like a Christmas tree than like a mystery as I--and you, Sky--see it, then I probably should not have entered it here... Thank you both for your kind comments! -- db.

Oooh, Daniel - this is indeed mysterious! Nice work. :-)

Boy, someone sure has that small island lit up like a Christmas Tree! Interesting image.
