Always a joy to see your entries, Helen! Love the way the colors jump out of the picture, as well as the excellent detail in the corroded chain!

You have a sharp eye for ordinary things to be converted into excellent shots,Helen.Very impressive image! I can see it for hours & hours without getting bored.

Hi Ian, of course I don't mind you speaking your mind! Yes, I guess you're right, but unfortunately I wasn't thinking along those lines when I took the picture. After searching the entire waterfront for the "perfect" chain, I was more concerned with DOF and that all of the links would be in focus. Next time... And thank you for the kind compliment! I do remember those early days when you had a small Sony and were photographing the bridge to Shikoku, I believe it was. Oh, and some from Hiroshima as well. Those were very good, but look what you're doing now -- great work! Helen

The contrast of the blue sea and the brownish of the rusty chain (& of course the details of it)make it really a good shot... Nive one Helen...

p.s. You have taught me so much I feel rude for speaking my mind. I hope your not offended.

Helen. The detail and sharpness of this capture is superb. But, I hope you don't mind an honest critique on this one. You have one of the Nikon "dream" lenses here and it's shot at f10. If shot at a more open aperture, like f4 (still extremely sharp with that lens), your specular highlights would be larger and the background a little more uniform without intruding on the image.
