"El Mariachi" by Miguel Garcia-Guzman

Tijuana, Mexico

"We make a living by what we get, we make a life for what we give" by Sir Winston Churchill.

Crossing the border from San Diego into Tijuana there is a "gate" for the tourists coming into the main shop avenue. There, many mexicans will try to make a living from what they get from the "gringos", sharing their art like the mariachi in the image waiting for someone who likes to hear a song.

Regards,

Miguel

P.S. I don't know why the EXIF is not displayed. The image was taken last Sunday (09/12/04) with the Sony F828. I applied some soft focus with Photoshop to create a feel and added vignette at the corners to make it look like an older image.

Very powerful image, Miguel. I like the perspective from behind him, and the use of sepia tones is particularly effective. Helen

A wonderful piece, Miguel. The guitar bridge tailpiece is beautiful and I love its shape reflected in the shape of the hat. The crop and composition excellent as well. The Churchill quote accompanies the piece nicely. -Michael
