'Through the Looking-Glass'
by Helen Betts

Ankara, Turkey

From "Through the Looking-Glass: And What Alice Found There" by Lewis Carroll.

I know this is fraught with technical deficiencies (I accidently discarded the better exposed picture), but I've done what I could with my very limited time and even more limited PS skills; however, I really liked the image so am posting it despite everything :-).

It was taken in the Ankara suburb of Keçiören, where I was interviewing the mayor for a story and visiting a kale ("castle," but really much more) that the municipality had recently finished building -- which turned out to be one of the most spectacular structures I've ever seen. This was taken from the kale looking out on the town.

Nice shot - the scene out the window looks like a framed picture.

It looks like a scene from a children's story book ...

this is an interesting image Helen. Actually it is quite original, because of the change of texture and colors between the various parts in the image. I like the exposure, you got all the detail you needed.

Good job.

Great capture Helen. The scene outside the window is like opening up a illustrated book. Just excellent.

Helen, I really enjoy this window. The subject, colors, and shape of the stained glass portion are really unique. The scene outside the window almost storybook in nature. The daylight through the marble sill a real plus. Great title. -Michael
