Jack Morgenstern, a local pilot who had stopped by to kick the Stemme's tires when we landed the night before, offered us his prime space in the big public hangar, a holdover from when the airport served as a B-17 training base in WWII. The tarp overhead protects the Stemme from bird droppings and bat guano.
