Wanda08_09_04a.jpg

This wasn't the picture we planned. We were going to get a picture of Wanda hugging these oak trees. Little Orrin G interrupted and the pictures of Wanda playing with him turned out cute.

Ten years ago when we moved here these oak trees were at the edge of our field. When our neighbor decided to develop his 40 acres the city took a bit of our land to build a road. These trees were in the middle of the planned road and were going to be chopped down. Wanda, when talking to a neighbor, on the city council, mentioned she thought it was horrible that the city was going to cut down these old oak trees. The council woman agreed but the city planner and engineers said they had to come down. Oh well, with a little work and us agreeing to take care of the trees and to pay for the curb and island the city gave in and let the trees stay. If you go to my sunset gallery http://www.pbase.com/slowpokebill/sunrise__sunsets there are a few pictures of these trees. So they are Wanda's trees.

And I guess Orrin G fits in this "Wanda Saved It Picture". She saved this guy's little life on the day he was born. A friend of my daughter had a stray cat that had kittens. Wanda went over to see them the day they were born. They had been born in the garage and the mother wasn't a great mom. The girl said there was one in the garage still born and she was going to bury it. Wanda said she would do it and went and got the kitten. When she picked it up cold and dirty from the garage floor she noticed it wasn't stiff. She rubbed it and it moved so she got a warm wet towel and cleaned him up and after half an hour he let out his first meow. The mother cat didn't have milk so this guy and his brothers and sisters ended up being bottle fed by Wanda and our daughter Brandy. Brandy has the momma cat and two of Orrin G's siblings and we have Orrin G. So we have two things in the photo that Wanda saved Orrin G and the oak tree.

This is still one of My favorite photos. (as mentioned in My comment below back in September)One of the things about this shot that had Me a bit nervous though was worrying about My kitty darting out in the road in front of a car. What you can't see in this photo is that the patch of grass I am laying on is actually in the middle of the road! They built the road around the oak trees creating an island of grass beneath them. Lucky for us, there wasn't much traffic that evening.

I have reviewed all the pictures from August and this one is My favorite! I love the natural lighting and I love the smile and the look on My face in this picture. When I look at it, I think it reflects just how much I love and adore and enjoy My precious "Orrin G". It is one of the few pictures Bill has taken where I was able to completely forget about the camera pointed My direction and focus on something else.

Bobby, thank you for the very kind comments. (soft lil blush)

Dennis, I named My kitty "Orrin G" cuz I thought the name "Orangy" wasn't very original for a an orange tabby cat. (grin)

The shot is great, but the story is even better. It speaks volumes about Wanda's heart. Even if you stripped away her outer beauty, her soul is the most beautiful part about her. Bill, I have a hunch you already know this, but you got yourself a keeper there. :-)

Wow, that is such a good shot. Its not overly sexy, just a playful fun shot. The cat is too cute. Ok, Wanda is too, but that comes with the territory. I really love the perfect lighting on this one. Nothing staged, just kinda candid all around. Good job Bill.

Beautiful shot! (I just hope Oren G wasn't named after Oren H. :))

That's MY little Orrin G! He's the cutest one of all! (proud motherly smile) I really do adore that little kitty and I am glad he came into My life. He sure was trying hard to kill the stick I was teasing him with tonight! If you look close, you can see the stick just above his head.

This is a fantastic shot! Orrin G is so adorable. I really enjoyed reading your little back story to the elements of the photo. Orrin G is giving you a high five! :)
