Wanda08_08_04.jpg

OK, not great art here. It is just photo of Wanda working on dinner.

I love this time of year just for the food. Plus, we get to eat on the patio and enjoy the evenings and our mountains. I think there is nothing better than corn on the cob, fresh tomatoes and cucumbers. Now if we just had some fresh Maine lobster and steamed clams I would be in heaven.

I like this image because it does reflect a day in the life of ME during the summer months. It's not unusual at all to find Me shucking corn and enjoying a beer on the back steps. I did decide though after looking at this picture again that I don't like that shirt I am wearing. It makes Me look fat! Guess I'll have to donate that shirt to the thrift store. (vain look on face) Oh, and that reminds Me of one of My favorite jokes. Wife says to husband "do these jeans Make My ass look fat?" Husband replies, "No honey, your ASS makes your ass look fat!" (laffin and laffin and laffin) I always liked that one.

I agree, for a backyard shot, the fill flash is dead on.
Save some for me.

Todd, sometimes I use a 550EX and sometimes the 420EX. It depends on what I grab off the shelf. For this type of photo I don't find it makes much difference. This one was the 550EX sitting to the left of the camera with no diffuser and I use the ST-E2 to fire the flash. I find that usually about -2/3 to -1 FEC works well for fill. I do double check the histogram on camera and I do bracket.

And it doesn't hurt to have a few cold beers on the table!

Great shot as usual Bill. What settings do you use for your fill flash and do you use any kind of diffuser? The fill from your flash (I think it's a 550EX right?) is always perfect.

This is a great "at home" image! Relaxing Sunday afternoon meal on the patio...ahhhh I love those days
