Arby’s is a nationwide sandwich chain here in the US, specializing in Roast Beef. While I like their “classic” roast beef sandwiches, I have never been tempted to try their Reuben. That changed when I got a coupon flyer from them advertising their Reuben sandwich for $2.99- for that price I just had to try it out, so off I went to Arby’s. When I ordered the Reuben I had an option to get it with extra corned beef for $1.00, which I elected to do.
The plain Reuben does not come with any chips, fries or a pickle. It was served slightly warm on marbled rye. There was a little piece of corned beef that had some fat in it, but other than that the corned beef was tender and tasted fine. It was a good idea to get the extra corned beef- it made for a decent sized sandwich. The rye bread was kind of limp and without much flavor- the crust was okay but the bread could have used a slight toasting. Another slice or two of swiss cheese would have been nice, as well as a bit more thousand island dressing. The thousand island dressing they used for the sauce was just average and they could have used just a bit more of it.
All that being said, for $4.00 it was worth it. I would grade it a C- for taste and an a B+ for value.
