Beyond Bread is a small sandwich shop/bakery chain here in Tucson. It was suggested by a co-worker as he had a Reuben of sorts of theirs (pretzel bread so not really a Reuben). They have a Rudy’s Reuben for $10, which includes a small side of chips (or some other choices).
The Reuben is served warm, and did not include a pickle. The rye bread is sliced more on the thick side and very lightly toasted except for the crust, which was crunchy- almost too crunchy. The bread was good but not overpowering on the “rye”flavor. There were generous amounts of Sauerkraut and Russian dressing applied throughout the Reuben. There was a large amount fairly tender corned beef between the slices of rye. The sandwich caused me use napkins often, which is a good thing. While the 1st bite I took into the Reuben caused some melted Swiss cheese to flop down towards my chin, there was not but a single slice of Swiss cheese on the sandwich.
My overall impression is that it was a good Reuben, definitely a solid “B”. Had it been served with a nice kosher pickle slice and had a bit more Swiss cheese, it would have been a B+.
