Just came across this page and it brought back memories of growing up there and seeing all the familiar names. You probably don't remember me. My name is Janet "Collier" Crews and I lived at 229 Apt.2E. MY mother's name was Nancy (deceased) she was a teacher's aide for many years at P.S 191. My father's name was Thomas Sr. (deceased). My 3 siblings Thomas "Junior", Mary "Ann" and Denise "Nene". I attended P.S 191, P.S 199, I.S 44 and Art & Design H.S. Hey Anthony I remember you and your mother and brothers and a big yellow cat named Tiger. I am sorry I missed the reunion I hope there will be another someday.

Hi,gtreat site my family lived at 247 west 61st st dr,apt 1E.family name Villafana,they originally occupied 1d.my parents were one of the first families in the building.I was raised there until we move in 1965.we were friends with the ugartes,chins,correas,feczkos and many others in the neighborhood.

Hi All My family, mom Gerry, dad Jack, sisters Dianne and Trudy all lived at 80 amsterdam (10C) from 1959 to 1973 when we moved to the Bronx. My sisters are still in NY (Rockland and Bayside) and I live right on 61st street with an apt the looks into my old bedroom. Hi Myra! Elaine

I dont really like the projects because it sounds getto and i'm not down for the getto crap so i hope people stop that stupid crap. We alredy have kids walking arround thinking they are big billy bad ass. My name is Maureen Green and my family resided at 208 west 60th Street and in 1970 we moved around the corner to 10 Amsterdam Avenue between 59th Street and 60th Street. Although we did not live in Amsterdam Houses, we were very much an extention of Amsterdam Houses. My brothers Octavious Green, Elmo Green,and myself Maureen Green were born and raised on 60th Street. We attended P.S. 191, 199, and also attended William J. O'Shea, Junior High School I.S.44 located on west 77th Street along with many of our friends who resided in the Amsterdam Houses. Although we did not live in the Projects, there are many people who lived in the surrounding tenement buildings that socialize and grew up with many of the residents from Amsterdam Houses. I recommend that it would be beneficial to estabilsh a section on this website to include people who lived and grew up in the neighborhood that identify with Amsterdam Houses. (P.S...Let's not for get 242 and 244 west 61st Street...Formerly Known as BUBBER TOWERS...The Grey Family, Robert, Karen and there was two other brothers whose names that that I cannot remember). I attended the boat ride last night 07/27/2007 and I had a great time seeing Sydney Johnson and Henry Simpson. and I will also be attending today's 60th anniversary Reunion 07/28/2007. This is a great website and it has brought back many memories for me. THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES. P.S. Remember the Rawlins Family, Michael Rawlins, Bruce Rawlins, Edmnd Rawlins, Lydia Rawlins...60th Street. The Mahoney Family, Pat, Katherine, Tommy, Johnny, Sharon. My sisters, Lourdes and Susan Santos were there longer than I was. We lived at 216 W. 63rd St.I was eight when my parents Sergio and Caridad Santos bought their first home in Bayside, Queens. Yet, at the age of fifty, I have never forgotten The Projects. Sometimes I wish we never moved.

I lived in 250 West 63rd, but you don't have it listed. I lived there between 1948 and 1969 on the first floor in apartment 1A. I have a brother named George who was best friends with Freddy Jordan who lived on the 3rd floor. This is Tina Makris.

My family and I live at 50 Amsterdam Ave at Apt# 13E. We lived there for the entire sixties; then in 1971 we moved to 40 Amsterdam Ave where the Housing Authority knocked down one of the walls that separated apartments 7B and 7C. It was there that my mother was able to fit her entire brood of nine: Milton, Norma, Anna, Delia, Ricky, twins Millie & Roberto, Eddy and me Davy.

Hi, It's been a while since I visited Skelzies. My mom, Bunni Earle, directed me to it. Nothing like a "stroll" down memory lane every once in a while. You have me listed as a former resident on 62nd stret. The Earle family, Sanford, Bunni, Pam, Toni & Colette lived "down the back" at 247 West 61st Street Apt 2B from '53 to '60 and Apt 4D until '63. If I sit down and think about it I can come up with a list of some other residents of 247 & 250. My mom also sent me (she got it from Skip Johnson) a web address for the Sisters of the Holy Cross. It is www.cscsister.org. It has infor mation about some of the nuns who recently passed away, including Sister Catherina, who was the principal at SPAS and Sister Frances, I think I had her in th 5th grade. Geogette Wallace, The Bennerson Family, the Thomas family James Briscoe and his sister Bobby Glenn, Mr Robert Stewart, Alston Woodcot, Sleepy Willie, so many great people that I loved lived in those building Fugge(sp) and Loretta O my God come on I don't remember the building numbers, But Ernest and Bobby I'm sure you do. Haven't looked @ skelzie for a while. Love this new feature. The Rosario Family (Doc,Angel,Ray,Robert,Herman, & Sonia) lived in 40, Apt 3D. Will spread the word so others can add their names. Hi everyone, This is Margaret Borges (Ammons). I used to live at 242 W. 62 Street - right next door to Mickey and Mario Romero. I found this site back in 2001 but have not participated. In November 2003, I had the most wonderful experience. Margie Holly, Mickey Romero and I got to see each other for the first time in 40 years. What a wonderful experience we had. I now live in Colorado with my husband, Cliff. How many of you are aware that we are planning a St. Paul's reunion in September 2004? It is on September 17 and 18th.
