Going through these pics I remember the flag pole, does anyone remember they use to play movies on the flagpole? And does anyone remember the community center that was in back near the playground. Remember Paul York and Herman who were the social workers there? II also remember the boats and the barrels spent many hours playing on them and hiding in the bushes from the maitence people. If no one remembers me I am Ronnie Simon and I lived at 90 Amsterdam Ave, apt 9A. also there was my brother kenny and my father Louis.If anyone is interested in getting in touch with me my email is lstorytellerl@yahoo.com

Hi Kathleen; My name is Thomas O'Shea I lived in 229 West 62nd Street in apt 4A I remember the boat and barrels behind the building on 228 West 62 Street and some of the old photo's of the people that lived in the projects. It was good to reminisce of the good old days when we lived in the projects.

Kathleen, I have enjoyed your photos. I grew up in 228W 62nd.st. and have black & white photos that look just like yours. One that comes to mind was taken in the "boat & barrels" behind our building. My family was the origional tennent in apt 5C. I grew up with the Tennents in 5E, the Dunleavys 1E, the Storks 2C, the Grants 1D and the Manns in 2D just to name a few. The Amsterdam Houses in the 50's was a nice place to grow up. The "C" apartments were narrow and the kitchens were horrible but it was home and cozy and warm on a snowy day with the radiators hissing with steam. The huge maple trees were beautiful. I have many nice memories. Kathy
