Our second day on South Georgia Island, we sailed into the "capital" of Grytviken. This is also a former whaling station that has been turned into a museum. It has no permanent residents, but is inhabited during the summer months by those who man the museum and also has a small cemetery where Ernest Shackleton is buried. Once again, the seals and penguins have reclaimed the area and have made themselves quite comfortable despite the museum residents and tourists. After leaving Grytviken, we sailed over to St. Andrews Bay and went ashore to wander among the seals and penguins.
