Many natives of Colorado Springs (some of my relatives included) think that this statue of Spencer Penrose (as he looks west toward Pikes Peak) ought to be named "Penrose takes a dump!"
This man was one of the major benefactors to Colorado Springs, and being placed at the intersection of Pikes Peak Ave, and Nevada Ave, ("busy corner") is a signal honor. Of course 350,000 people later, the center of town has moved far east out in suburbia.
