The Chapel

Air Force Academy

I doing all my shooting in the morning this week. Despite being at 6,000 feet this area is getting into the mid-90's most days like much of the rest of the southwest.

Today, is my first effort to try out the extra-wide angle lens, I ventured forth to the**US Air Force Academy.**

I'm not real wild about most of the architecture there, however the chapel is quite beautiful.

The Colorado Springs Campus was opened my senior year in college. We guys were quite threatened by the good looking uniformed cadets. Our concern is they would come down to campus and steal our women. They did! ;-)

My Dad and one of his brother's served in the Army Air Force during WW II. It has always been my favorite branch of the service, however my color blindness prevented me from becoming a pilot.

Robin, good choice of subject and well composed. I visited the AFA a few years ago and was intrigued by that chapel, so it's great to see it again here in such a good photo. Thanks for the caption info too.

Fantastic image! I love the color of the sky and clouds!

There's nothing quite like the look of clouds when shot with a wide angle lens. I don't have much need for wide angle given the sort of photography I mostly do, but boy does it help create some fantastic images of landscapes and skies. I like this shot, Robin.

Nicely done. That lens is is super!!

Yep...you are selling me on wide angle. I didn't think it would interest me. But this captures a great deal and none of the fish-eye I would have expected. Nicely done.

Good to see the Academy again. It does get hot there doesn't it. Have fun! Thanks for sharing.

Sweet shot. I'd have been so tempted to 'fake' the plane in flight. Getting in closer, a bit beneath it...with those great clouds in the BG

The outside of the chapel is beautiful, but the indoor shot spectacular. What a contrast between the USMA and USNA in terms of architecture.

Great balance between the harsh concrete and the soft clouds. Good shot! Also loved the interior view of the chapel. Another stunning contrast between the strong feel outside and the soft glow inside.

Well done Robin - interesting and rather dramatic.

Like your composition here. Was a real scorcher again today, huh? My poor A/C is running overtime!

The lens is working beautifully but I have to say I agree with you on the architecture. Perhaps it's nicer indoors.

Excellent work with the new lens. I expect you'll find it quite useful in such beautiful country.

Ah yes, I've stood in that very spot. Colorado Springs is a beautiful part of the country. Good luck with the new lens.

Your wide angle is serving you well and you have done great justice to this. I must show this to my husband who spent time there.
