September 2: Keel-Billed Toucan (Ramphastos sulfuratus )

Del Mar, CA


Good friend Lynn Davis wanted to limber up her fairly new Canon EOS 300D Digital Rebel and I needed to continue my practice with my Quantray f/2.8 50mm Macro lens.

Looking for a ‘target rich’ environment we went to Del Mar to visit the Del Mar Bird Hospital, and then to lunch at the Poseidon, and then finally to Del Mar Beach (north of 15th.)

We caught quite a few excellent pictures. I used my macro lens exclusively at the Bird Hospital and then broke out my Canon 75 to 300 zoom for the beach.

Regarding good picture taking, we say to you… “If toucan, you can! ;-)”

Great shot Robin, he has a kinda worried expression in his eye, I'm not sure he trusts you with that camera.
