September 1: Stalking the Wild Iris

Rancho Bernardo, CA

Herb (right) dropped by Tuesday morning for a good chat and proposed that we get a few macro shots together here in RB. I guess there were no more flowers or birds left on the Del Mar Coast? ;-).

I eagerly agreed and we ambled out to my back yard to surround this lone volunteer iris waving in the sun. He got a excellent shot with his Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro lens.

When he finished, I borrowed his lens and too my shot. It took me some time to develop my film (huge grin), but I like my shots and picked one to post as today’s macro image as shown on the left.

Nothing against Herb, but I like yours better, the lighting is better for this shot, and it has a bit more detail. I love your composite also. BTW, I turned off the music. ;-)

Russ .. of course you can use it. I scanned an old strip of negatives (do you have any of those still lying around?). Then I trimmed out (with marquee tool) spaces for each of the "new" imgages. I pasted, reduced, and aligned each of them putting each on a layer beneath the negative strip. I then did an invert, merged and positioned the stirp.
Of course the 2 large images were my 'real' PaD and I set them off using the stroke feature in PS.
I'm delighted you like it. I had GREAT FUN in creating it.
BTW, like the flower shot? I think it is sharp!

Damn, Robin, I love this! The past two days have been so cool! I love the montage. Great idea, great execution, great PaD! Would you be offended if I copied sometime soon?? I think this is such a cool concept. Is the negative a series of inverted images? Not sure I'd know how to make the film perforations. Nice, Robin.
