Bear Glacier terminus

Bear Glacier terminates in a small lake right next to Glacier Highway on the way to Stewar and Hyder, AK. When I was there the lake was littered with small icebergs having calved from the glacier. I rested here before continuing, while admiring the glacier and the surrounding scenery.

After having stayed at Meziadin Lake I decided to visit the small towns of Stewart and Hyder which are accessible from the Stewart-Cassiar Highway via the 64 kilometres(40 miles) long Glacier Highway. This detour is well worth taking as it offers some spectacular views of several hanging glaciers and the impressive Bear Glacier which extends nearly all the way down to the road.
