I had to add the 'real thing' to my collection, although the XD7 is not the cheapest camera to get. I found a third generation XD7 (with the green marked 1/125 shutter speed and the exposure compensation dial facing toward the prism of the camera), so probably built in 1980. Except for a few dents and scratches on the top plate ('patina'), this XD7 is in a very good condition. More important, the electronics are healthy and everything seems to work.
The XD5 body may not all be metal, the XD7 is. 40 grams heavier than the XD5, the XD7 feels even more balanced in hand. The camera was puchased from the son of the first owner. Before re-entering service, it is in need of CLA service and then it is ready for use.
Very happy to own 'a legend'. Probably the best SLR ever made by Minolta.
