Alethea is wearing the patch of the Great Britain Civilian Volunteer service and was assigned as a driver for US military personnel. She had previously been an ambulance driver and stretcher-bearer for the ARP during the Blitz, and a member of the Mechanised Transport Corp (in which then-Princess Elizabeth also served).
