After Utrecht, Dad and I drove down to Antwerp, Belgium where we spent a few days. Like Maastricht and Utrecht, Antwerp is a great city to explore on foot. It has thousands of restaurants, lots of old cathedrals, and spectactular views along the Scheldt river front.
By coincidence, it was the 60th anniversary of Antwerp's liberation by the Allies in World War II, so there were more street parties than usual.
Since Antwerp was the home of the artist Peter Paul Rubens, most of its churches seem to have a large number of Rubens masterpieces hanging on the walls, as if they were mere ordinary church decorations.
