Between the main square at the cathedral and the main train station is the wide boulevard called Meir. This enormous street is Antwerp's main shopping district and is now closed to vehicular traffic. It is lined with shops and businesses of all kinds; the home of the artist Peter Paul Rubens also sits on a side street from it. In all of Antwerp, the Meir is the place to go for people-watching.
