Judges Comments

(i) Content (story, mood etc): An image showing us an elderly lady in a traditional hat, but she seems to be posing
artificially for the photographer and we are not discovering anything about her character, story, position in life etc
(ii) Composition: Good cropping to remove distracting background and focus us on the main subject
(iii) Technical (lighting etc): The flash is so strong that it removes all shadows and makes her face look two-dimensional rather than three-dimensional;
next time try a smaller aperture size (say, f/11 rather than f/2.8) which would bring out more shadows on her face and blur and darken the background
