A large Darner (3.0-3.7 in,) with blue eyes, brown thorax, green shoulder stripes and straight lateral stripes. Wings are amber tinted and the green-ringed abdomen is distinctive among northeast darners. Adults fly high over fields and clearings sometimes forming late afternoon feeding swarms. Shady ponds, swamps and slow moving streams are a favorite habitat.
