DARNERS-Genus Coryphaeschna (Regal Darner)

GENUS CORYPHAESCHNA

Regal Darner

One of our largest dragonflies measuring 3.2-4.0 inches, it is found mostly in the southeastern US.
It inhabits densely vegetated lakes, ditches and slow streams. Most common in the spring, they often fly
near vegetation to flush small prey. Even though males are not territorial and do not patrol over water,
they are often seen flying over open water and seldom near pond edges.
